Join us for our second Jewish mindfulness meditation retreat.
Following last year’s joyous retreat, Rabbi Jeff Roth returns to Aotearoa, offering the opportunity to experience and extend practices which thousands of people have found transformative and life enhancing.
Participants will engage in a range of meditative techniques. These include concentration techniques, contemplative prayer chants, mindfulness meditation, the path of blessing, yoga, walking and eating meditation and practices that cultivate joy, result in greater clarity and wisdom, and open the heart of compassion.
The retreat builds to a special experience of Shabbat, resting in the spaciousness that the retreat process creates. Shabbat chanting is extended and Torah reading is done in a way that helps integrate the experiences of the week’s practice. Shabbat ends with a move back into hearing each person’s special moments from the week.
Structure of the Retreat
During the Retreat, we observe social silence, refraining from conversation with other participants at all times. There will be group times for questions and answers. In addition, each person will have individual appointments with Rabbi Jeff and Rabbi JoEllen to discuss the practice. The silence of these retreats allows for a settling of the mind as well as an in-depth look at one’s experience of life in each moment.
A regular Jewish meditation practice can help cultivate awareness in all aspects of daily life, bringing each of us to a meeting of the Divine Presence in every moment.
*Fees for the retreat cover room and board, including all meals. The teachings are offered freely. We welcome donations to support the teachers and the administrative costs of the Awakened Heart Project. We hope you will support this model, so that we can continue to offer these retreats regardless of participants’ ability to pay the full cost.
*Financial aid is available for those needing it. Contact Rabbi Roth: jeff@awakenedheartproject.org with a request.
Or, if you are able to contribute towards scholarship funding for other retreatants in need, please let us know.
